B Residence project

INTRODUCTION

B-Residence in Paranaque is the project I handled when I was working at Buensalido+Architects. The scope of the project is renovation and face lifting the façade. The owner wants to have a renovated house that will have a fresh new look.
At Buensalido+Architects we came up with many design ideas of how the house will look like so we produce different schemes. But this particular design scheme of the house’ facade that I will show is my idea. We developed my design input for the house with the other schemes.

The original design of the house was very traditional. The Main target of the design of the façade is to have a new modern look for the house. So we at Buensalido+Architects decided to omit the presence of the pitched roof, we believe that by doing so we can create a contemporary façade for the house.

FINAL DESIGN

Incorporating the façade design in the process, the final design gives a fresh contemporary look in the house by covering a roof using a parapet wall, simple solution but gives character to the house.

DESIGN PROCESS

1

The Process of the façade design started in the existing design of the house.

2

The design started in a simple rectangle that will serve as a parapet wall to cover the pitched roof.

3

Cut the rectangle into two.

4

Place the other half of the rectangle to the roof of the garage, to cover it.

5

Positioned the rectangle in a certain degree but we intend it not to follow the degree of the pitched roof.

6

Connect the two angled rectangle. And trimmed the sides due to the perimeter of the property.

7

Copied the angled roof parapet to the main roof.

MATERIAL

One major material used in the house's facade is Fiber Cement Board its is mainly use to cover the exterior of the building, it has a variety of textures depends on the specification of the designer. On our part we used Plain finish and Wood plank finish fiber cement board. It contains cellulose fibers, cement, and sand. It's characteristics are, Very durable, it doesn't require frequent repainting, it is fire proof, and can withstand natural disasters, in short it is low maintenance material. Aside of being low maintenance, it is also an energy efficient material that helps insulating the structure.
